Milky Way Caramel Brownies

Its been awhile since I shared a dressed up brownie recipe with you, so when Collective Bias invited me to put together a fun treat using Milky Way Bites, I knew it was time. If you love caramel, you’ll have to try this dessert.

This time of year there are always plenty of reasons to have fresh baked goods for a crowd, whether it be game day, or general conference this weekend;) Ben and I have hours of watching this weekend so you can bet we’ll be posted up on the couch with plenty of these over the next few days.

For this recipe I used a dressed up box brownie mix, but if you’d rather the whole thing be from scratch, you can use our favorite easy brownie recipe found here.

You’ll Need:

For the Brownies :
  • 1 Brownie Mix + all listed ingredients
  • 1 extra egg
  • 1 can caramel sauce
  • 1 bag Milky Way Minis
  • **optional: chewy caramel pieces
For the Frosting:
  • 1 Stick butter
  • 4 C powdered sugar
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla
  • 4 tbsp caramel
  • **If you really care about the frosting holding its form then substitute crisco for half of the butter. Personally, I think frosting with crisco tastes disgusting so I always use butter.

What You’ll Do (Brownies):
  1. Prepare brownie mix according to the box and add an extra egg (at the same time you add the other egg(s)).
  2. Pour batter into greased baking dish.
  3. Chop up milkyway pieces and caramel pieces and drop into batter. Use your finger or a spoon to make sure they are covered completely.
  4. Using a spoon, add globs of caramel to the batter in the pan. Space them apart as desired (I placed mine every few inches). Use the spoon to swirl it into the batter gently (don’t mix entirely into the batter, one or two swirls is all).
  5. .......................

What You’ll Do (Frosting):
  1. Whip butter in mixer for 2 minutes (or until fluffy).
  2. Add powdered sugar and whip until combined.
  3. Add vanilla and caramel syrup and whip until completely combined. **If the frosting isn’t coming together, feel free to add a little more powdered sugar or a little milk/hot water.
  4. .........................
